Harbor View Senior Assisted Living is nestled on a hill in Banker’s Hill overlooking the beautiful San Diego Bay. It’s serene, sunny, peaceful. Sometimes people wonder if the physical setting matters when caring for the elderly, especially those individuals with memory care issues. We think so. We think it’s one of the many factors that should be addressed in caring for those with cognitive disorders.
HarborView is old world charm meets modern amenities. Backed by a professional, dedicated, and well-trained staff, HarborView Assisted Living specializes in residents suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of memory loss.
It’s important to us that our staff is completely up-to-date on current memory care. We strive to develop and train our staff to understand neither the person nor the behavior is the issue — the issue is the need or feeling that the person is trying to communicate with the behavior. We understand that dementia or Alzheimer’s alters how the brain communicates. So we try and learn our residents’ communication styles. We pay attention to how they react or act when they are hungry or tired or upset. And then we file those reactions away, and we remember that about each individual resident.
This is what drives our exercise programs, our activities schedule, and our therapy sessions. All of our extracurricular events are planned with our residents’ best interests in mind. Memory care is a delicate and important field of learning, and we strive to be at the top of the game at all times.
Our staff are expertly trained, and they continue to attend seminars and workshops that keep them up-to-date on all medical advancements in the field of memory loss and memory care. And because we believe that a lot of different aspects go into memory care, we also have a licensed dietitian who provides healthy, well-balanced meals for our residents.
If you are looking for 24/7 care for yourself or a loved one, we’d love to meet with you and tell you more.
