Last Saturday, December 8th, we took a small group of our residents to Balboa Park’s December Nights celebration as the first step to getting them back into the community. It was a day filled of music and entertainment and a great way to help our residents feel the Christmas spirit! We weren’t out very long, but for the hour we were gone it was lovely to see our residents sing the carols they remembered as children and dance to the music that was being played. We want to say thank you to Jewish Family Services for providing the transportation to bring us to that highly attended festival. Yes, there were a lot of people and many cars as one of our residents pointed out during the bus ride, but we found a nice stage that was playing Christmas classics that wasn’t packed at all.
We’re looking forward to arranging more opportunities for our residents to explore the community they’re in and hope it simulates their minds in a way staying at home doesn’t. If you have any ideas for trips you think we should take, please let us know!
